I'm guilty of an abatement!

Messing around with all this expensive electronic stuff in the camper made me think about how I've got a relatively new inverter, a new large battery on the way, and the only electrical gadget that might need replacing is the converter.

The converter, of course, is what changes the AC power when I'm plugged into a house or any other shore power, into DC to run the lights and charge the battery. The converter in the camper is factory-original and getting pretty old, but its main problem is that it doesn't charge lithium-iron batteries. I doubt they even had lithium-iron batteries when this camper was built. And I think I read that charging lithium-iron batteries with an old lead-acid battery charger might be harmful to them. So most modern converters will charge lead-acid or lithium iron batteries, and that's very important to me in the summertime when I'm sometimes plugged into the house.

I got a letter from the Cripple Creek code enforcement officer stating that my property in Cripple Creek needs the grass to be cut. The code enforcement officer works at the city police office, so whenever the grass gets too tall, I get an official letter from the police department once a year, which usually scares me half to death, until I realize I haven't murdered anyone lately and it's just a letter telling me to cut the grass.

The letter, of course, doesn't say "I need to cut the grass," that would obviously sound way too silly; it says this is a NOTICE OF ABATEMENT! And is specifically designed to get the attention of a procrastinator like myself.

Of course, I have no lawnmower, no weed-eater, and absolutely no desire to partake in any activity that requires such implements, so I have to get my youngest son to run up there and cut the grass, or hire someone to do it. And if I don't, the punishment in Cripple Creek for ignoring an "abatement" is hanging by the neck until you're dead, dead, dead.... Cripple Creek takes its lawns very seriously.
