Participant or Observer ?
As is my habit, nothing of consequence was accomplished today....Actually, nothing of consequence is accomplished on most days for me, since I mostly sit in one spot and let the world swirl around me, without affecting anything either good or bad.
I used to enjoy doing things, but now I feel more at ease doing nothing at all. Instead of being a participant in life, I find it more appealing to watch it go by from a distance. I have neither the ability nor the desire to get deeply involved in something, especially something important. In the past, I liked accomplishing things; I enjoyed being a part of the community, knowing people who could get things done. But now I hardly know anyone outside of my family, and oddly enough, that doesn't bother me at all. It appears that I'm more of a loner as age creeps up on me.
I've noticed before that my photography hobby kind of relates to my personality: a photographer observes life through a camera lens, which means I'm not really participating in life; I'm just observing it. And it appears I'm heading more and more toward being an observer rather than a participant.
