Exercise, part two.

So what did I mean by making life a little difficult as a form of exercise? It just makes sense that if we're designed to move, then any form of movement is exercise. No, it's not the same kind of exercise as running around the block, but overdoing that kind of exercise can lead to hip, knee, and ankle problems, so why force your body into something that hurts? Yes, you can do that when you're young, but I'm talking about people of retirement age, and at retirement age most folks don't feel like exercising and quite often don't. So how do you get some movement going when you're perfectly happy sitting in your La-Z-Boy watching TV? And the simple answer is "make life a little more difficult".

So how do I go about making life a little more difficult, so it becomes a form of exercise, and you don't even realize it? There are plenty of ways to accomplish it, and the beauty of it is you get to pick the way you want to get that kind of exercise and keep it as simple on yourself as possible. So I'm not telling you how to do it; that's up to you. I'm just telling you what I do from the perspective of a lazy, largely unmotivated man who doesn't enjoy exercise per se, but I do enjoy movement as long as it doesn't appear to me to be an exercise routine.

Now I could have easily finished up my opinion on exercise in this blog post, but having to write a blog post every day, my challenge is not brevity of content, but the challenge of writing something every day, and stretching out what few interesting things there are going on in my life for as long as possible.... But there is a limit to folks' attention, so with any luck I will finish this up tomorrow.

This is an infrared picture I took a few days ago at Pete's. The infrared makes it look like a winter day at Pete's. All the Aspen trees are white, looking like they're covered with snow, and even the green grass looks like it's got a light dusting of snow.

Another picture of the Milky Way I took at Pete's the other day. It wasn't a great night for Milky Way pictures; there was smoke from various forest fires in the air, it was a little cloudy, and there was a lot of ambient light coming from the State Park.

If you look carefully at the brightest blob of the Milky Way, near the center of the picture, and then look a little to the right and below the bright blob, you might be able to see a perfectly straight line of a dozen or so tiny lights, which are the Starlink satellites, which more and more RVers are using today for their Internet.

Mushrooms growing at the base of an Aspen tree. I don't know if they're magic mushrooms or not, but with the deadly reputation that mushrooms have, I wouldn't want to taste them and find out.
