Exercise Part 3 ~ 4 comments.

What do I do instead of exercise?

I used to try to make living in the camper as easy on myself as possible; now it's the opposite.

1... Take my inverter, for instance. It comes with a wired on-and-off switch that I can screw to the wall in any convenient location, but I don't use it; I get on my hands and knees and crawl under the table to push the on and off button on the inverter itself, and I do that several times a day. Is crawling under the table going to keep me young? No, but it all adds up.

2... To get into my bed, there is a step, and while standing on that step, it's still 2 feet to get into the bed; I could put another step, but getting up into my bed from that distance takes a lot of effort for a soon-to-be 80-year-old man. Is that real exercise? No, but it all adds up.

3... To get into the camper, from the ground, the first step is 21 inches, and I get in and out of the camper many times during the day. I have a step-stool that makes that first step more comfortable, but I seldom use it. Does that give me all the stretching I need? No, but it all adds up.

4... The step to get into the seat of my truck is 26 inches; that's a long first step, and it can be adjusted with the torsion bars, but I leave it like that, because getting in and out of my truck is good exercise. Is that enough? No, but it all adds up.

5... When I park somewhere, especially at big-box stores like Walmart, I park as far away from the door as I can, partially because I'm usually in an RV, but I still do that even when I'm not in an RV. And if my grocery bags are fewer than four, I leave the cart at the store and carry the bags. Does that give me all the walking I need? No, but it all adds up.

There's plenty more, like I'll take the stairs, not the elevator, and you can invent things like that to do yourself; the point is I try to make the way I live my life as exercise, so there's no reason to do something special to get exercise. I simply live my life..... Do I take walks for exercise? Definitely not; walking is boring. I take walks to get pictures for my blog.
