My time is getting short.

A little less than two weeks to go before I head south for the winter...Time seems to be flying by, which is weird since I’m not doing much right now.

I figure this week is relaxing time and getting mentally prepared to hit the road. Next week is when I actually start getting ready to leave. I need to do some laundry, clean up the camper, and I always look forward to going to the school to take pictures of my granddaughter and all the other kids parading around on Friday afternoon in their Halloween costumes. My grandson won't be there since he is no longer in elementary school, and I don't think the junior high school does things like that.

After I take pictures of the Halloween parade at the school, very little will keep me from heading south. One thing will be the weather. And hopefully I'll have some good traveling weather, which usually means little or no wind...Unless, of course, it's a tailwind, but when you're in an RV, I have found tailwinds as rare as a hairy frog. The other reason is that I don't like traveling on a weekend because it's hard to get help if you break down, so I wait till the next Monday before getting on the road.

Yellow wildflower.

Short-legged desert flamingo. These desert flamingos are as rare as hen's teeth, and even an expert like me can barely recognize them. Eons ago, after moving from the ocean to the desert, these flamingos camouflaged themselves so thoroughly that they look like any other desert bird.
