Hearing test today. ~ 2 comments.

Well, my hearing test went as expected, and after much beeping and button pushing, I was told that I can't hear very well and need hearing aids. Needless to say, that came as a shock to me, since for all these years I've been able to hear a pin drop from a block away, and my hearing has been as clear and sharp as it was the day I was born.

I protested vehemently, telling them there was something wrong with their beeper and that the button I was pushing was opening the garage door across the street, but they wouldn't listen to reason. I couldn't hear their response, but I assume all their shouting was them blaming me for their technical problems.

But anywho, I agreed to try out the VA's latest lightweight titanium ear trumpet that doesn't use any batteries, so changing out tiny batteries won't be a problem, and its light weight will make holding it up to my ear for long periods less strenuous.

I was concerned about having some tiny piece of plastic stuck in my ear that makes screeching noises for no reason, and being a crash test dummy for a piece of high-tech junk that can't be depended on. Instead, I was told that my ear trumpet has been used and tested for over 100 years and has proven, by the test of time, to improve hearing better than anything you can stick in your ear.

So that was all I needed to know; I agreed to give the ultralight ear trumpet a try, and I will get it just as soon as the old geezer currently using it kicks the bucket, which shouldn't be too long since he's 97, a chain smoker, and recently married his 22-year-old secretary.
