A beautiful day…Except for the wind. ~ 2 comments.

Another beautiful day, low 80s for a high, high 40s for a low, and single-digit humidity.... Couldn't be better.

I forgot to mention yesterday that the wind is blowing something terrible. It's okay early in the morning and late in the afternoon, but the rest of the day, the wind is blowing so hard it's difficult to walk, so anything outdoors I don't get done by 10 or 11 o'clock probably won't get done, and it's been that way since I got here, and it's supposed to continue for another few days. Also, no matter which road I was on, the traffic was just a little shy of horrendous. I'm not sure why it was that bad, but if I had to describe it, I would say it was like weekend traffic, and yet it was nowhere near the weekend. I suppose it could have been something to do with the 4th of July, maybe Father's Day, or possibly there are a lot of tourists here already. Other than that, I don't know how to explain the kind of traffic I had to deal with. But I made it safely to Pete's, so the trip was worth it.

I was going to put out my portable solar panels yesterday to see how much power I can get out of them and the roof panels working together, but I stopped at my storage room in Divide Colorado, and spent too much time there fooling around with my stuff that brought back memories, so I didn't get to Pete's until well after lunch, so I figured I would just put the panels out in the yard today.

I brought back a bow from the storage room. It's a Bear Kodiak Magnum recurve bow with a 50-pound pull. I don't know what I'm going to do with it, but back when I was a kid, I always wanted one since I always enjoyed archery, and this was one of Bear Archery's topline hunting bows. I don't know what I'm going to do with it, I don't have any arrows, a target to shoot at to stop the arrows, or any of the other archery paraphernalia that one normally needs to shoot a bow. In fact, the bow doesn't even have a bow string, and my best guess is that it's over 60 years old.

But despite all that, I had the urge to take it with me, even though I don't know why. My storage room is full of things like that. I have no earthly need for any of it, but it's too valuable to throw away. So at the moment, it clutters up my life and brings back memories that are often hard to deal with.

I thought I heard something outside the camper yesterday, so I peeked out the door, and this is what I saw about 20 feet away. This Antelope has the biggest horns of any Antelope I've ever seen. He looks kind of scruffy because he's still trying to shed his winter coat.

He wasn't scared; he just looked at me for a minute and moseyed away. I never realized how big their eyelashes are, because I'm seldom able to get this close to one; they're pretty skittish.

I put out my portable solar panels in the yard this morning, when the sun came up, just to see how they're doing, and I was charged up by 9 o'clock.
