A motivating factor

It's getting kinda chilly, Fall is definitely on the way. In the 10-day weather forecast, six of the days have high temperatures in the 60s, and three of the days have highs in the 50s. Low temperatures are still hanging around in the 40s. So I keep a warm coat ready at all times.

The days feel like they're flying by now, and it seems like I barely have enough time to get things done before I leave for my winter travels. I'm still not sure what day I'm going to leave, mostly because I can't make up my mind if I want to be around for Halloween or not. I enjoy seeing the grandkids in their Halloween costumes, and I also love to see the neighborhood houses decorated for the season, especially after dark. But other than that, the only motivating factor that's pushing me towards leaving is getting the most use out of my soon-to-be-expired New Mexico State Park camping pass.

My new computer was delivered today at about 3 o’clock by FedEx. I remember, not all that long ago, when a package shipped from one end of the country to the other would take weeks to arrive, and by the time it got here, I had largely forgotten what I had ordered. But one company, that we all know as Amazon, not only changed all that but threw an atom bomb into the whole shipping system and rearranged it so that getting packages delivered to your door took hardly any more time than buying stuff at the store, especially when you're near an Amazon hub like I am in Denver. Jeff Bezos changed the world of shipping to the point that I now complain because it took four or five days to get my package shipped from across the country, instead of the normal one or two days it takes to get it from Amazon.

It seems like no matter how convenient things get, we Americans always want it even better........ but maybe that's why things get better, unlike some countries, where they’re happy with the status quo, Americans are always looking for ways to improve things.
