Filling up an empty computer.
Since I have a brand new computer that's totally devoid of all the things necessary to get it to work, I've spent most of the day loading it up with the various softwares that I use all the time, and That's no easy task. but for some strange reason I seem to enjoy it. It could be because I'm getting rid of all the useless junk that built up in my old computer, and starting out with something that's new, fresh, and fast. Or maybe I just enjoy mucking around with the computer's innermost thoughts.
Most software went on without complaint, but I had a lot of problems with the software that I need the most. And that happens to be my speech-to-text software called Dragon Speaking Naturally. I couldn't seem to get that to work at all. Going to their website, I found out that Dragon Speaking has been bought by some big software company like Google or Microsoft several years ago, and it's possible that my old Dragon Speaking didn't even work anymore, especially on Windows 11.
So that left me having to type out information to get the computer stocked up on the software I need, and my typing is laboriously slow. so I needed to either do something like learn to type, spend more time trying to get Dragon Speaking to work, or look on the internet and find out if there is anything better than Dragon Speaking nowadays.
The latter idea worked the best, and I found something called Wispr Flow, which is a speech-to-text software like I need and is a lot cheaper than Dragon Speaking is now. so I'm going to go ahead and give it a try since I can drive it for free for a while and see how it works. No matter how bad it might be, it can't be any worse than me. Hunting and pecking on the typewriter keyboard and searching for keys that I swear have disappeared Without even leaving a hole.
P.S. This is my very first blog post using the new computer, and Wispr Flow.
