My response to Larry’s comment
Yeah, Larry, computers are a hobby unto themselves. I don't normally think of them as a hobby because they do things that I wouldn't like to live without, but I spend way more time on the computer than I do with a camera in my hand.
Since both of my computers are running Windows 10, I also have serious concerns about what will happen when Microsoft stops supporting it. But since it's a free upgrade, I'm sure they're going to make money off Windows 11 somehow, and that will probably be loading it up with advertising, and at the same time making it impossible or difficult to get rid of all of the doors they've opened for advertisers to sneak into your computer. However, since I haven't had to deal with Windows 11 yet, I'm not sure what the Windows 11 scam is, but nothing is truly free.
I keep two computers around only because of my "seldom being plugged in" lifestyle. My 18-inch Asus laptop’s battery died long ago, so it has to be plugged in to work. However, my 13-inch Asus laptop has a good battery, so it's my regular daily computer. I use my 18-inch Asus for working on pictures and videos only.
I can relate to the boxes of wires and peripherals one accumulates when dealing with computers. Even now that I no longer have a scanner or printer, the wire situation underneath the combination table, workbench, and computer desk resembles a winter den full of rattlesnakes. I personally believe there's a tiny troll living under my table that spends all night twisting my wires into knots.
I'll figure this problem out eventually. My 18-inch Asus works okay, it's just very slow. I spent some time this last weekend cleaning up its hard drives, which helped a little but not nearly enough. It only has an i-7 chip in it, instead of the new i-9s, and the Nvidia graphics are several iterations behind. I think the only reason I can still use it is that it has 64 gigs of RAM.
