Day three at Pete’s

I have already explained why I have nothing to do at Pete's, such as shooting, riding my dirt motorcycle, and Elk hunting. That doesn't leave much for me to do while spending time out here, so I have to think in terms of simpler things instead of fun and interesting things.

And so far, the only simple things I can think of doing out here are things like relaxing and going for a walk. In the past, I would have done those things, but I wouldn't have talked much about it; those are things I did while resting up from the fun things I was doing. But now it appears, as I rapidly approach my 79th birthday next month, relaxing and going for a walk have become the exciting things I do.

To sink myself even farther into decrepitude, I guess I could throw in taking a nap as a simple thing I could do out here. But, actually, I have never been one for taking naps. I sleep very well at night and normally have no desire to take a nap in the middle of the day, especially when nighttime temperatures are in the 40s or 50s, which allows me to sleep very soundly.

So it looks like the high points of my day will come down to eating, writing my blog, and taking a walk with my camera. Come to think of it, that's about all I do during my winter travels anyway, so I guess staying at Pete's is no different than my normal life, and that’s kinda what I’m looking for.

I went for a walk this morning and saw a few Aspen trees that are just starting to turn yellow. My property is about 9000 feet in elevation, and Fall comes quickly at those altitudes.

I don’t know what these wildflowers are; I always called them trumpet flowers.

The view of the distant High Country from my property.
