so what’s new?

So what is this "new" thing I'm talking about......? I'm glad you asked.

My plans for the Summer when I first started full- timing about 10 years ago was to visit my family in Denver Colorado, and then live much like I lived in Arizona and New Mexico during the winter, which was, as you know, roaming around from place to place, following the weather and taking advantage of the incredible boondocking in the Rocky Mountains.

At that time, my daughter and son-in-law were living in Denver, downtown, in an apartment. And a downtown apartment in Denver is no place to try to parallel park a pickup truck, especially if it's hitched to a 30-foot-long Arctic Fox fifth wheel, so I figured I wouldn't be able to visit them very often.

But it just so happened that they were looking for a house to buy in the burbs, while I was still in Arizona. They closed on the house the day I got back to Denver, and since they weren't there yet, I pulled in the driveway of their new house and made myself at home in the Arctic Fox, being the first one in the family to spend the night at the new house. And I guess being the first one there gave me some squatter’s rights, so I just continued to stay in the driveway during the Summer.

Being lazy and a master of procrastination, I quickly figured out that remaining in one place is easy, while moving requires effort. So, like a wart on a frog, I just sat there until I became part of the landscape.

By now, you're probably wondering what in the world all this has to do with the "new" thing I'm talking about?..... not much, but since I'm about to run out of ink in my quill, I will continue this tomorrow.

Theboondork..... I don't have much to say, but you have to admit it takes me a long time to say it.

This is a common way to see the Sandhill cranes, mom, dad, and a young 'un trailing behind.

Elephant Butte State Park in New Mexico not only has full hookup camping, but you can boondock on the beach, or boondock in the shade under a tree, it’s up to you.

This looks like a nice way to spend an afternoon at Elephant Butte State Park. Of course, big engines in boats like this suck up gas faster than pouring it out of a bucket.
