Fish or cut bait?
Things are getting to the fish-or-cut-bait time when it comes down to packing up and leaving. I'm thinking Thursday might be the day to go. That way, I could be in Las Vegas, New Mexico, before the weekend hits. I don't worry about finding a place to boondock there, even on the weekends, because there's boondocking all around the lake, and I've never seen it anywhere near full.
Of course, I will stop in Trinidad, Colorado, and stay overnight in the Walmart parking lot, where I'll do some shopping and stock up on the things I need. It's also a good place to get diesel so that I can make it to Las Vegas, New Mexico, without any fuel concerns.
Once I get to Storrie Lake in Las Vegas, New Mexico, that's where I'll stay for a few days and get back in a traveling state of mind. It will be a bit warmer there than it is in the Denver area. But it's mostly pine trees around Storrie Lake. So even though it's Fall, not much will be happening in the leaf department.
Amazon brought me some new headlight bulbs for the truck, but I haven't installed them yet. They're not as easy as screwing in a light bulb; in fact, I have to take parts off the truck to get to the lights. So, it's going to be a major production to get the new lights in it, so I'll probably do it while I'm on the road. Maybe at Storrie Lake State Park

I thought this neighbor's entrance door was very elegant.
these 10-foot-tall Halloween monsters are very popular this year. A few houses had them last year, but this year they have grown not only in size but in popularity, like the monster in the header picture, which lives just down the street from me. They're taller than a one-story building. And it must cost a bunch, but they're very popular.
