Yippee! Yahoo! Yee-haw!.
If you think I'm happy….. you're right!!! It felt so good to get this last VA hospital visit out of the way. It was an easy one; they just checked my eyes and gave me a new prescription for glasses, so I won’t have to use Walmart reading glasses anymore once it’s filled. I was told my eyes are healthy, and I can now continue living my normal life.
Just in case anyone is interested, the VA will pay for an eye exam and a new pair of glasses every year. And repairs are paid for if the glasses are broken, or they're replaced if they're lost.
other than that, I've been busy with a lot of projects and not a small amount of cleaning. I did spend some time on the computer installing more software and getting used to it. My biggest problem at the moment is getting speech-to-text software to work for me. There's actually a built-in Microsoft speech-to-text that I've been trying. But it's so inaccurate that I spend more time correcting mistakes than I would just writing it out. I haven't given up on it because it doesn't require an Internet connection to work. There are times when I don't have internet during my travels, or it’s so weak that I’m not sure it would be of any use.
Which brings me to a paid software called Wispr Flow, which seems to work okay, but, unlike Microsoft speech-to-text, requires an internet connection. So I can't depend on it 100% of the time.
Then there's my old Dragon Speaking Naturally software, which works pretty well, but I can't get it to work on this new computer without buying a whole new version of Dragon. And they cost hundreds of dollars.
Dragon Speaking still works on my two old Asus computers. So if I absolutely need to, I can crank up one of my old PCs and write my blog on it. Which reminds me, I don't know what I'm going to do with my two old computers. But I'll probably have to get rid of my big, heavy Asus and keep my little 13-inch model to use for blogging.
