And so it begins.

I've been running around today getting some final things done. I managed to get off to a very late start. So I only went as far as the Bass Pro Shop parking lot today, which I don't mind because it takes me a while to get used to driving for longer distances anyway. I also like to stop by Bass Pro Shop to see if there are any warm clothes on sale. Actually, now that I've officially started my winter travels. there's no such thing as getting off to a late start or an early start for me because I come and go when I feel like it. I have no plans or written-in-stone destinations other than to be back in Colorado by Late May, early June.

I understand that most folks either can't or don't want to travel that way, and I don't blame them. Living by your wits can be difficult at times, but I enjoy the challenge. However, as a full-timer and boondocker, I find that not having any hard-and-fast plans, schedules, or destinations gives me the kind of freedom I desire and the ability to come and go whenever the notion strikes me.

Sometimes I have to remind myself that I'm not on a vacation, or a quest, and definitely not out to prove anything. This is just my everyday life: trying to find a comfortable place to stay in the summer and a warm place in the winter. And take a few pictures while doing it.

I believe this is my eleventh year of living like this, and so far, I'm still finding it enjoyable, even though I do have a few more things to worry about. My truck is a 2007 GMC, and it’s starting to show its age. And I'm a 1946 male who is also starting to wear out. And it's anybody's guess as to which one of us will end up in the junkyard first.

Lance Camper packed up and ready to go. It looks almost anxious to head out of my family's driveway and point its front bumper south on I-25. I believe this will be my eleventh annual trip to the desert southwest. And it’s t-shirt weather. When I took this picture, it was 2 p.m., and I was wearing a coat. Hopefully, in a few days, that will no longer be necessary.

Happily enjoying an overnight stay at the Bass Pro Shop. I plan on leaving fairly early in the morning for Trinidad, Colorado. Hopefully, so I can get across town without too much traffic.
