The holiday season is just around the corner
I moseyed into town today, filled up a propane tank, topped up my truck’s diesel fuel, and bought some groceries at Walmart. I decided that I would have fish for my Thanksgiving dinner, so I bought a fillet of salmon to cook. Since salmon is so expensive, I consider it a treat that I only eat on special occasions, which is too bad because I like fish. When living in Miami, since one of my hobbies was catching fish by various means, whether it be with a rod and reel, a spear gun while skin diving, or tickling a lobster out of its hole in the coral, I enjoyed eating most any sea creature.
Since the beginning of the holiday season is rapidly approaching, I'm having to give some thought to where I want to be for Christmas and New Year's, since I've already decided on hunkering down where I am for Thanksgiving. The only thing I try to do is find a place to stay that's free, so wherever I decide to stay, I'm not having to pay for several weeks' worth of hunkering down.
That leaves out several nearby places, such as Tombstone, Arizona, where it costs $10 a night to boondock at the Boondocking RV Park. It also leaves out Whitewater Draw, Arizona, which is free but has a three-day stay limit. Next in line would be Ajo, Arizona, where boondocking is free, and I can stay as long as I want since there's no stay limit at the old rodeo grounds. Continuing west, there would be the BLM camping, known as the VFW campground in Yuma, Arizona.
I enjoy all of those places, so any of them would be fine with me and will probably get around to all of them sooner or later. I guess with New Mexico State Parks being priced out of my financial abilities, I'll have to learn a lot more about boondocking opportunities in Arizona.
