A YouTube kinda day. ~ 2 comments
Nothing is going on today. No clouds to make a picture interesting, kind of windy, so I didn't go anywhere, it turned out to be a watching YouTube videos kind of day.
Yesterday, before I drove into town, I tested both of my truck batteries, and even though the truck has been sitting here for six days without being started, both batteries tested at 12.5 V, which is just where they should be. So I'm really not sure what happened to the batteries when I was boondocking at Santa Rosa Lake State Park. But they haven't given me any trouble since then, which is great. It just bothers me not to know what happened, so I can make sure it doesn't happen again.
I would imagine any full-timers who are looking for a place to hunker down for the long Thanksgiving holiday would be getting here today if they’re smart, because the regular folks should start coming in tomorrow. It will be interesting to see if City of Rocks will fill up with campers or if it will be like a regular weekend.
So far, none of the New Mexico state parks I've stayed at have been anywhere near busy; in fact, they've all seemed kind of empty. I suppose I could look up all my past blog posts from November of previous years and see if I described the parks as almost empty, but actually, I don't really care anymore. I've only got about five days left before my New Mexico Park pass expires, so by the end of the Thanksgiving holidays, whatever the New Mexico state Park does will not affect me, since anything I do in New Mexico will be on other public lands such as the BLM and other Federal public lands.

Here are a few pictures of some of the campsites, which are all boondocking, at the City of Rocks State Park.
Some of the campsites are large enough for fifth wheels and motorhomes to be able to deal with.
And some are just barely big enough for a small RV like a van.
You can hide deep in the depths of the boulders.
Or you can be out in the open.
But wherever you camp, the giant boulders are always nearby.
None of the campsites except these have electricity. So, if you have to be plugged in, you will have to join the rest of the electrically challenged folks and be scrunched together in the hookup area. You can see the boulders, but you don't live among them.
