I survived

I had my cataract "procedure" done this morning, about 8 o'clock, and I was home by 11, and most of that time was spent driving to and from my family's house to the VA regional hospital in downtown Denver. I'm told everything went fine, and the actual operation took about 20 minutes.

At one of my doctor’s suggestions, I ended up getting the implanted lens that allows me to see at a distance, and I'll need reading glasses to see up close. This is what I originally wanted, but I was talked out of it during my previous tests. The actual surgeon who did my "procedure" today explained to me that the long-distance lens works better for most people, so I was happy to go with that one.

Currently, I have to wear a patch over my new eye. I wanted a black patch so I would look more like a pirate, but they were all out of black patches, and after today, I will only have to wear it at night for about a week, and since no one sees me at night, I decided on a regular white patch, which is the sign of a reformed pirate.

My biggest problem right now is that the patch on my right eye is too large to fit my glasses, and without my glasses, I can't see very much with my old eye, so doing things like writing this blog becomes more complicated than you can imagine. So I'm going to have to skip putting pictures on my blog for today, since what little I can see might not be what I think I'm seeing, and may actually be something I'm not seeing, but I can't tell the difference.

Theboondork...... half blind now but with a clear future.
