Oh happy days !
The doctor took the patch off my right eye, and I could tell immediately that the "procedure" worked. For the first time since I was 13 years old, I could see clearly out of my right eye without wearing glasses.
Those of you who commented on how white everything would be hit the nail on the head. I was shocked at what white actually looked like! The cataracts had obscured everything with a yellow veil, and I had become so used to it that I thought that was what everything was supposed to look like.
The next thing I noticed was that everything was clear, shiny, and clear, the way vision is supposed to be. But it had been so long since I wore glasses, and dealing with cataracts for who knows how long, it was like opening up my eyes to a whole new world.
The next thing I noticed was that the hidden corners weren't dark anymore, and I could see details in the dark areas, not just a dark blob. And I suddenly realized why I stopped driving at night years ago, when I lost the ability to see what was going on around me as clearly as I had before.
Yes, it was a whole new world that had been there all along, but invisible to me because of the extremely slow growth of cataracts, which had been creeping up on me with little cat paws, with nary a hint of a warning that my vision was slowly disappearing.
But at least one eye is seeing the truth now, and in another couple of weeks my other eye will hopefully fall in line and I will be able to see the world as it’s meant to be seen, a way I haven't seen it for 66 years.
Tomorrow I'll write more details about my "procedure" and what actually went on in the operating room.
Theboondork..... One good eye and high hopes for the other one.
Blue flower in the yard.
Stoll Mountain, the highest mountain in the area, at almost 11,000 feet high. Pete’s is near the foot of the mountain.
