How do I take a vacation?

I think the key to enjoying a vacation is to do what you want to do, when you want to do it. And if you do that, it would be hard not to enjoy whatever vacation you’re on.

I think that when I was younger, I thought going on a vacation meant going somewhere and then having fun when I got there. However, I've since learned that a real vacation has nothing to do with the location and everything to do with what's in your mind.

I think we like to go somewhere for a vacation because if we don't get out of our every day environment it's hard to stop doing the same things we do every day and do something just for fun, so taking a trip somewhere breaks that cycle of doing the same mundane things every day, and forces us to get involved in the fun things that go on in places where people usually go for vacations, which explains all of the Putt Putt golf courses, and go-cart tracks in vacation areas.

I don't do many things that I used to do when on vacation. I no longer have the desire to spend money on things that used to bring me enjoyment; I now enjoy activities that don't cost anything, such as walking and taking pictures. I know that sounds boring, and it probably would be for most everyone else, but I enjoy it, and of course, that's all that counts.

Theboondork.... Who doesn't know a lot of things, but knows that happiness starts from within.

Another clue to the mystery. When you find out what the mystery is, you’re going to be soooo unimpressed.

You must go low, you must go slow, before you reach the bottom of the mystery only I know.

This is the Cripple Creek police department, also known as the "cop shop," this is where I went to get my Cripple Creek camping permit.

This place brought back many good memories of the past, when there was only one policeman in town, whose nickname was Grizzly, and using his wife as a dispatcher helped keep the peace in Cripple Creek.

And I remember Grizzly telling me one time that Cripple Creek didn't have the money to throw every guy who was drunk and disorderly in jail, so he would just take him home and turn them over to their wives who would punish them far worse than the law would.

I keep one of my old Cripple Creek bank bags from back in the day in the camper when I used to have some money to carry around in it. Now they’re just full of moths and empty dreams.

Cripple Creek is in a constant state of construction. Just as soon as they open one road, they close another somewhere, which keeps drivers on their toes trying to get around town. This didn't bother me because I walked everywhere. However, with new casinos being built and older ones being remodeled, it seems that there is more money to be made in construction than in the casinos themselves.

The Teller County Courthouse in Cripple Creek. This is where I would have to go for jury duty when I lived in Woodland Park, which was in Teller County. It’s over 100 years old, and inside it still looks like it’s 100 years old, and it wasn’t a very comfortable place to be in the wintertime, so the jurors tended to arrive at some very quick decisions before we froze to death.
