Clouds. ~ 2 comments

I decided that ordering glasses from an optometrist right now might not be a good idea because of the time it takes to make them and the approaching holiday. I wouldn't want to get caught with my two-week maximum stay at the Elephant Butte State Park running out on a holiday when it's hard to find a place to hunker down, and my new glasses being delayed for some reason. So I figured I would just wait till the holidays are over, see where I am, and find an optometrist in my area.

Finally, some clouds! There was a nice sunrise this morning, not spectacular but nice. So I was able to get some pictures as the sun was coming up, which, around here, is about 6 AM. Of course, I pay for that bone that nature throws me by having to go the rest of the day with cloudy skies and not much sunshine filling up my batteries.

For the next two or three days, it’s going to be very cloudy, with a good chance of rain, so it looks like I'll have a fairly reasonable shot at some decent sunrises and sunsets. The only problem looks like it might be so cloudy that it blocks the sunrises and sunsets.

I'm thinking that my plan for Thanksgiving, which looks like a four-day holiday, might be to leave here in the next day or so and get to the City of Rocks State Park, which is only a 2 Hour drive from here, and hunker down there for the holidays. That will also finish my New Mexico state Park camping pass on November 30th, so I will no longer have a connection to New Mexico in my future travels.

I can't help but notice that my winter travels are shrinking year after year. When I first started full- timing, I would consider visiting the South, where I was raised, and would like to visit again. Then I spent several years visiting the Texas Gulf Coast. I soon made New Mexico and Arizona my favorite places. And now it looks like Arizona will be my winter home, which kinda makes me look like a "Snowbird" instead of a traveling man..... Oh well! The world shrinks when you get old, and my world has gotten considerably smaller.
