No mention of the weather.
Having lived for almost 80 years, there are a lot of things that have changed, sometimes for the better, but often for the worse, and here are a few things that I personally believe have changed for the worse.
1.... 25-cent gasoline. And no, that wasn't a low price because of inflation; that actually was a low price for the times. Back in the early 1960s, when I had a car and a motorcycle to buy gasoline for, gas stations were privately owned, and station owners would have "gas wars," undercutting each other's prices on a pretty regular basis, which led to things like 25-cent gas.
2.... I miss "Hot Rods". Yes, I know there are still hot rods around driven by old geezers trying to relive their youth, but it's just not the same as building a hot rod being a normal thing for kids in high school to do.
3.... And as part of that Hot Rod hobby, I miss young kids who grew up knowing how to work on cars. That's a mighty handy skill to have as you become an adult.
4.... I miss Olympic athletes being amateurs and not professionals. To me, the Olympics were only interesting when they were supposed to be amateurs who didn't get paid for whatever sport they excelled at. But I understand that with so many countries cheating and "paying" their Olympic athletes, it became so difficult to make the system work that the Olympic Committee stopped trying….. and I stopped watching.
5.... I miss affordable housing. Being an Air Force family, we moved a lot when I was growing up, so it didn't make any sense to buy a house because in a year or two, we would be gone. My dad knew that was not a good way to live, so he instilled in me that home ownership was the most important financial thing you could do, so within two years of my getting out of the Air Force, I bought my first house and have only rented a place to live once, for a very brief time. But things are different now, and even the most basic home is pretty much unaffordable unless you have a really good job, which young people seldom have... And I find that truly sad.
Thehotboondork.... Dang it! I almost made it without mentioning the weather.
I took this picture about 9:00 this morning, which is about as late as I care to be outside. This is the main part of Arizona. Trustlands boondocking area. What used to be full of dozens of RVs is now down to just a couple…. I wonder if I'll be the last one here; that would be weird.
Sunset last night.
This picture shows how many things are on my roof that shade the roof solar panels. The five solar panels up there take up the entire roof, so putting solar panels on the ground was the easiest thing to do.
I can't find my pet cow, I wonder where she went?
