Yay Duramax !!! ~ 2 comments.

I've just about decided not to go anywhere for this upcoming Fourth of July holiday. I was thinking of going to Cripple Creek, Colorado, and boondocking on some property I have there, so that way I could take a brief mini-vacation and take care of some business at the same time, but I've been thinking about how busy the roads have been on ordinary days, and how bad it must be around a holiday and I've just about talked myself out of going anywhere until it's all over.

I took my truck in to have its emissions tested this morning. It's easy to find places that test car emissions, but for diesel trucks, there aren't many, so I have to make an appointment to have it done. Fortunately for me, my raggedy old truck passed its emissions test once again. I am more amazed than ever that my 19-year-old truck is still holding together, and doing it without polluting these beautiful mountains.... I can't say enough about the Duramax diesel engine that General Motors uses.

Now that that's out of the way, I can concentrate on my eyes and getting the glasses that I've needed since I had my cataracts done last year. And getting the paperwork done that Colorado requires for anyone 80 and over, from an eye doctor stating that your eyes are healthy enough to drive.

All of that sounds daunting, but it only takes one visit to an optometrist to get it all done at one time. The importance of all that can't be underestimated because my whole life on the road depends on getting that paperwork done.

I don't anticipate any problems with my eye health since I've never had any problems before, and last year, before my cataracts were done, the VA gave me several very thorough eye examinations and didn't find any health problems, so I'm assuming getting the Colorado paperwork done is just a formality.
