Hand me down my travelin' shoes

Even though I'm in a beautiful area, the weather is great, and I'd planned on staying here a while longer, I woke up this morning with an urge to hit the road. So I put on my traveling shoes and headed for the nearest Walmart in Phoenix.

I'm badly in need of groceries, especially the kind I don't dare buy from the Safeway in Wickenburg because of the immediate and overwhelming sticker shock at the self-checkout, which usually causes my anemic credit card to shrivel up and refuse to be accepted by the card reader.

I'm apparently not the only one with this problem, as all the checkout lines at Walmart are full of people on their knees, crying and begging for one more swipe that will force their worn-out credit card to accept that gallon of milk for the baby, or the tiny can of cat food that we old geezers have to choke down pretending it's a tuna sandwich.

After that, it was a brief stop at the Wells Fargo Bank to put enough money on my credit card so I could buy enough diesel fuel to make it the 130 miles to Flagstaff, where I plan on spending a few days. Even though it looks like it's going to be pretty chilly.

I blundered into Flagstaff about 11:30 this morning, went to an area called Mary's Lake Road, where there's boondocking in the Coconino National Forest. I pulled into the first empty spot I saw, figuring I would spend the night here and look around for a more scenic spot tomorrow.

It looks like this will be the last picture I take of the Arizona Trust Land boondocking area until next fall. I'm going to miss this place.

This is my new boondocking spot just outside of Flagstaff, Arizona.

Pretty pink flowers in my yard.
