An unexpected dose of ambition.

Even though holidays are meant to be a day of rest, I got an unexpected dose of ambition and finished installing my truck's brand-new fuel filter. Even though installing a fuel filter on the truck is generally a less than one-hour job, I'm proud to say I did manage to turn it into a two-day job, which is by no means a speed record for me, but it does show what can be accomplished with a lackadaisical attitude, terminal procrastination, and laziness without bounds.

I still have one more maintenance project for the truck; the air filter still needs to be changed. And I could very well set a new record for changing the air filter, since it's literally a five-minute job; with any luck and the weather cooperating, I'm pretty sure I could stretch the air filter installation out for a day or two.

Truck and camper jobs like that put me in a traveling mood. After all, if the truck's not happy, I'm not happy, so keeping it running smoothly is important if I want traveling to be fun. On the other hand, I am very thankful I don't have to travel far every year to stay in fairly comfortable weather in both winter and summer. That way, I don't put too many miles on the truck, averaging less than 5,000 miles a year. On the other hand, I pity the poor Canadians who have to drive all the way from Canada down to the Arizona desert just to avoid freezing.
