A full day of sunshine.

Finally, a full day of sunshine. The sun came out yesterday, but only in the late afternoon, so it was a real treat this morning to see it rise above the mountains instead of clouds covering them. It's supposed to hit 70° today, and I'm definitely looking forward to that, since I've been wearing long johns for the last three days. Chilly weather is bad, but chilly weather and 99% humidity are a lot worse, especially for old geezers like me.

I'm going to have to take my truck in to have the oil changed, even though I used to do it myself all the time. But now I no longer have a way to catch the dirty oil or a place to put it once I do. Maybe I'll find a Jiffy Lube place to do it. The fuel filter is another matter. Ever since a mechanic told me it costs $300 to change it, I guess I'll have to do it myself again. It only takes me half an hour to change it; I can't believe they can charge that much to do it.

I reckon I'll head back to Denver tomorrow, stopping at the Bass Pro shop along the way. When I was there about a week ago, eight other RVs were spending the night in the Bass Pro shop parking lot, which is kind of a lot, so maybe there's already a trickle of full-timers on the roads starting to head south.

I used to head for Arizona earlier than I do now because it used to snow a little in September, which helped push me out the door and into warmer weather, but now it seems like October or even November will be our first snowfall. But it doesn't matter; I have no schedule, no place I have to be, so I wait only for the call of the open road to whisper my name.

The sky was so blue today. Maybe it was no bluer than any other day, but the lack of clouds made it seem even bluer.

With the sun out, it made it easier to see the high country in the background.

The bright blue skies made the leaves’ yellows stand out even more. My teeny-tiny home is in the middle of the picture.

Early in the morning, before the sun got over the mountains, a layer of fog hid the hills.

A layer of fog lay on the ground, waiting for the sun to get over the mountains and burn it away.
