It's finally over.
My daughter drove me up to the DMV around lunchtime this morning, and I was in and out in 15 minutes. And they didn't even look at the paperwork I got from my eye doctor. Maybe my optometrist sent my paperwork to the state after they tested me, but for whatever reason, I am very glad to have the whole ordeal over and done with for another 10 years….. Like I'm going to be driving my truck when I'm 90 years old.
Now that all that stress is over, I was considering moseying out to Pete's for a week or so to celebrate getting my life back to what I call normal. The only thing standing in my way right now is the $6/gallon diesel fuel, and if it wasn't for that, I would be out at Pete's in a heartbeat. I've got a strong feeling that diesel prices will dominate my winter travels this year and make me linger in one place longer than I normally would.
But that’s okay after all; I'm not on vacation. I'm just trying to live a normal life, and people who live a normal life don't get in their car and drive someplace every day. But that's kind of common for a lot of RVers; we tend to want to go someplace and see something. And that's fine if fuel is cheap or you're made of money, but I think this winter I’ll have to entertain myself in a way that doesn't burn expensive diesel.
