Heading for Pete’s
I headed to Pete's this morning, stopped to fill up a propane tank, and, as usual, spent the night in the Bass Pro Shop parking lot. I like to go into the store in the Fall, since they have a lot of winter stuff that interests me.
I think I'll spend a week or so boondocking out at Pete's, and since there are several days that are going to be very rainy and cloudy, I figure that will be a good test of some of my new battery, solar setup, and inverter, and as far as the inverter is concerned, I'm hoping to use it very little, or better yet, not at all.
I'll stop at the Walmart in my old hometown tomorrow on my way to Pete's and pick up some supplies. I'm hoping the roads aren't too bad getting to Pete's; they seem to get worse and worse lately, and the county doesn't seem interested in spending a dime to fix them, which is odd considering the roads used to be perfectly fine. Then they stopped repairing the paved roads, and they got so bad that the county dug up the pavement and turned them back into dirt roads again, like they were 30 years ago.
One of the reasons why I wanted to go out to Pete's right now is not only to celebrate renewing my driver's license, but also because the altitude is 9000 feet at Pete's, and the leaves up there are already changing; in fact, I may have already missed the peak, so I need to get up there before all the leaves fall off..... And thanks to the outrageous price of diesel fuel, this will probably be my last trip out to Pete's before I leave Colorado for my winter travels.

I didn't know it until I pulled in and saw a small car show in the Bass Pro Shop parking lot. There weren't many folks or cars, but I got to take a few pictures and enjoyed the morning.
This is one of my favorite cars ever. If you can't recognize it by its looks, here are two clues. It has a 427 engine, and the car’s tag should give it away.

The car show is in the foreground; behind it is my camper, and then the United States Air Force Academy. And in the background is the Front Range. Needless to say, it was a beautiful and interesting morning.
