Almost October.
Still rainy, cloudy, and chilly. I wanted the weather to be like this so it would feel like a true test of Arizona weather during El Niño’s ruthless grasp. This would have been a disastrous trip if I'd planned to get outside and do anything, but I wasn't, so my plan to deal with cloudy weather is working perfectly, especially with today's predicted high temperature of 47°.
Colorado has leaves, but how pretty they are varies from year to year; it can be great, or it can be a total flop, with cold, windy weather blowing the leaves off as they change. The leaves at Pete's this year are okay but not great; some trees are completely changed, others are finished and bare, and some haven't even started yet. So it's not a flop, but it's not a very good picture-taking experience.
It's hard to believe it's almost October already; summers seem to fly by in the blink of an eye, and life does too as you get older. It seems like a cruel trick of nature: when you're finally living a life you love and think you're on easy street, nature speeds up your life, so weeks pass like days. And birthdays fly by in a blur. I'm pretty sure if young folks sat around doing nothing like we old folks usually do, they would go absolutely crazy, but for us seasoned citizens, relaxing and accomplishing nothing is how most of us choose to live. I guess that's a good thing, because if I had to do the things I did as a young man now, I probably wouldn't survive to become an old man.

I don't remember it raining this much in Colorado since I've lived here. The good news is the camper has had no leaks, and it's just as dry as a bone inside. Needless to say, it's been pretty chilly even in the daytime, so I've had to run my heater on and off all day.

This picture shows what the weather's been like at Pete's since Monday. It looks like this when I wake up in the morning, and it looks like this when I go to bed at night. Sometimes it's a little better, sometimes it's a little worse, but it's just the kind of weather that's going to test my batteries and solar panels.
