Quality of life, part 2.
I have taken, in no particular order, a few of the things that we look at in a country to determine if it is "Third World" or not. Bear in mind that these are simply my opinions based on my feelings and personal experiences in the almost 80 years of my life, which include traveling through most of the states in this country, a lot of countries in Europe, and two years of living and traveling in Japan thanks to the United States Air Force.
1.... Education.
I don't have any reliable statistics on education in this country, but when's the last time you heard that the education standards in America and the abilities of the graduating students were knocking it out of the park on every level? Maybe that "feeling" is out there, but I've never heard it. From what I read, way too many kids are coming out of high school barely educated, and graduating from college not only barely able to read but heavily influenced by their left-wing college professors.
2.... Crime.
What can you say about crime except that in big cities it's largely out of control, and in Democrat run big cities, it's completely out of control. The big cities were always places I didn't want to live in, but I can recall a time when, aside from cities like Miami and New York, crime wasn't all that bad. The police were allowed to arrest people, and prosecutors put them in jail... Very little of that seems to happen anymore.
3.... Drugs.
Here is a problem that is so bad it doesn't even get talked about much anymore, and one I personally blame my generation of baby boomers for. My generation gave the world rock 'n' roll, and the rock stars introduced the kids of my age to drugs, and the rest is a history of death and destruction, from the poppy farmers in Afghanistan to the drug cartels in Mexico, to the drug smugglers that infest this entire country. The drug problems barely existed when I was a kid, and I put the blame squarely on the back of my generation.
4.... Looks like you'll have to wait till tomorrow to find out what 4 is.
