So, how do I feel about the VA?

I wanted to take this opportunity to give everyone an overall view of how the VA Medical system has worked for me over the several years I've used it.

I have to say that I have been more than happy with the way I've been treated by the VA. I guess I was very lucky that, for most of my life, I had been told by people who were using the VA doctors that things were not going well, and the treatment they were getting from the doctors and the medical staff was poor at best and bordering on dangerous. In fact, my best friend Pete, and yes, that's the very same Pete that was my neighbor at the property that I now call "Pete's", was a user of the VA's medical facilities for many years, and I don't ever recall hearing him say anything good about the VA system.

And that was pretty much the way most folks felt about the VA. But Congress or somebody, for some reason, decided that ex-military folks deserved better and started spending money to hire more people and build more medical facilities, and since I got started late dealing with the VA, things had gotten much better before I ever had to use them.

So yes, the VA is a huge bureaucracy with millions of veterans to take care of, But Despite that, my experience has been that they've always treated me well. The medical staff seem well trained and know what they're doing. They have always made me feel like a human being and not just a number.
