how much am I worried about El Niño?

You don't have to worry about this "fish" getting lost in all the hype, KennyD. I have to find something to write about every day, and if it wasn't for things like this super duper El Niño, I would have very little to write about, so I have to milk it for all it's worth. So thanks for bringing this subject up.

We boondockers have to pay a lot more attention to weather forecasts than most folks do, especially wind and rain forecasts. No matter how hyped they are. When I'm somewhere in the desert, I have to cross numerous dry washes. And each one could flood, leaving me stuck in the middle of nowhere. So yes, I definitely pay close attention to the weather.

And when I read about places in New Mexico and Arizona that are getting flooded, I've often boondocked in those places, alongside that river, next to that lake. So again, I have to pay closer attention to the weather than most normal campers do. Normal campers stay in RV parks where a hundred people are around to help each other if they get into trouble, like a flood, for instance. Boondockers generally don't have many people around, so we have to take care of ourselves and are the only ones responsible for making dumb decisions that get us into trouble.

So yes, I understand that these internet weather forecasters have to make every Summer thunderstorm sound like the end of the world. And they do a good job of it with the headlines, but if I watch the whole video. I will usually find out that they're talking in terms of percentages, such as, there's a 10% chance of a tornado, which also means there's a 90% chance of no tornado. And any weather forecast that predicts the weather more than a day or two out is a waste of time watching.

So yes, I have to pay attention to such things. But I take them with a grain of salt. Knowing that Cloudy weather in Arizona could bring a flash flood. More likely, it will bring clouds that make a beautiful sunset... The world is what you make it.

PS…. I got sidetracked; I will talk about my new method of staying warm tomorrow.

I'm standing on school property, and these are some of the houses that surround the school.

My granddaughter is standing outside a classroom, waiting for the costume parade to start. She tells me she's dressed as a cute vampire.

About 150 kids all come out of their classrooms wearing Halloween costumes and walk around the outside of the school while any parents who want to show up take pictures.

If you want to be an elementary school teacher, this is part of the job.

It’s always fun to see the kids doing this, and they really seem to enjoy it.

I don't know who's in the chicken suits, but they're obviously grown-ups; I’d guess the principal and vice principal.

No dogs were allowed at this shindig, but no one mentioned you couldn't bring your pet lion.
