Hearing test next week.
It only got into the low 90s today, so the heat was tolerable, but these nighttime temperatures in the mid 60s are not what I would call good sleeping weather. Fortunately, the humidity is lower at night, which makes the nighttime temperatures a bit more acceptable.
Just a few more days until my hearing test with the VA audiologist. I know I have trouble hearing, so I'm sure I'll need a hearing aid or two. I just have doubts about how well they work. I do okay talking to most adults, but talking to my elementary school-age grandkids is a real problem. I can barely hear anything they say with their whispery little voices, so holding a conversation with them is all but impossible, so I do what a lot of hearing-impaired people do.... I just stop trying to talk to them, which is sad.
I know folks with hearing problems a lot worse than mine, and they just slowly cut themselves off from anyone, because, like me, they only hear about half of what somebody says and then try to use the half they heard to figure out what was meant by the part they didn't hear. This seldom works, usually ending up with folks getting mad at you because you don't understand what they're talking about. I've said it before, and I'll say it again.... Losing your hearing is the only handicap that otherwise normal people will belittle you for having.

My grandson. I don't think I even knew how to use a phone at his age…. But now these kids have their own phones.
