Grocery shopping
Staring at my last gallon of water, I determined this would be a good time to trundle into town and get some more water and a few groceries.
It looks to me like Wickenburg has a lot fewer folks running around than it did when I got here. There were even some empty parking spots in the Safeway's rather small parking lot, which is rare. I often have to park across the street at the post office and walk to the Safeway.
If I were driving a compact car, finding a parking spot at the Safeway would be a lot easier, but with a truck camper that sticks out in every direction more than the truck does on its own, it's more difficult to find a spot I can fit in. I also noticed that the car tags in the Safeway parking lot were all Arizona tags, as opposed to the normal mix of tags that I see that represent almost every state in the country, and even a few from Canada. So that, along with the mostly empty boondocking area I'm staying at, I'm definitely starting to feel like the Lone Ranger in town.
As usual, I left the Wickenburg Safeway feeling as though I had been assaulted and robbed. Looking at the prices on the items I was buying could conceivably be a mental assault, and since I was taking a financial beating, considering the amount I was paying for the few items that I bought, it was easy to feel robbed. My credit card tried to warn me by jumping out of my hand and running for the door, but its efforts were in vain, as I chased it down and violently swiped it until its screams subsided and "approved" popped up on the screen.
I've always felt like most winter RVers leave Arizona before I do, and that could be because I leave based on the weather in Colorado, and not the weather in Arizona. In Colorado, middle to late May is generally when the snows stop, if I stay below 6000 feet, but not always.
Theboondork
The desert is full of yellow flowers and yellow fuzzy-looking things. This Saguaro cactus reminded me that I don't think I've ever taken a picture of a Saguaro blossom, and that's because they don't bloom until June, and I'm usually gone by then.
I went looking for some ocotillo flowers, but the ocotillos were growing on the side of the hills, and I couldn't walk up to them without worrying about rattlesnakes. So I had to take a picture from far away, and this is the best I got.
Not all of the trees and bushes have blossoms. Some of them have weird things like these fuzzy caterpillar-looking doodads. Whatever they are, they're all over the place right now.
