Almost free

I had my last doctor's appointment of the year this morning at 8:30 at the VA clinic. As usual, I got there early and sat in the camper until the time for my appointment. I like getting early morning appointments, even though I subject myself to morning rush-hour traffic. But it's been my experience that when it comes to doctor appointments, the later in the day the appointment is, the farther behind the doctor gets, and you end up with a long, boring stay in the waiting room. So if you can get an appointment as soon as the doctor arrives, they are usually right on time.

Now that the doctor appointments are over, I'll have an easy-peasy appointment with the VA optometrist to get a prescription for eyeglasses on the 28th. And the worst part of that will be the long drive through traffic to the VA regional Hospital in Denver. I don't want to hang around here for a week or more waiting for my glasses to be made, so I'll probably stop somewhere in New Mexico at a State Park where I can stay for free, and find an optometrist, hopefully one that takes VA patients, give the doctor my prescription, and let them make the glasses for me.

So after that appointment on the 28th, I'll be as free as a bird and able to start my winter travels unencumbered by doctor visits, and hit the road whenever the mood strikes me.
