My comment response
My response to Thomas from Kentuckianas comment this morning.
Well, thank you so much, Thomas from Kentuckiana, I like the exploding "Happy Birthday" wishes. My birthday is September 12, and I will be 79 years old. A long time ago, I put it in my mind that I was going to continue to be middle-aged until I hit 80, and then I would officially become old. However, I can see now that I'm not nearly as sharp as I used to be, so I may have to change my age to 79 when I will officially become old.
But I'm still enjoying my full-timing lifestyle; my biggest problem is the cataracts affecting my vision, which hopefully will be cleared up starting this month. However, missing my family when I'm on the road is my biggest challenge.
I don't know how long I can continue living the boondocking lifestyle, like I've talked about before in previous blog posts, boondocking is a more challenging way to live, but as I age out I'm not sure how many more challenges I can deal with, so more and more I'm gravitating towards staying in familiar places, and doing familiar things so there's less challenges I'm confronted with.
And I guess that's for the best because, to quote Bob Dylan, ‘‘The times they are a changing’’, and boondocking only goes in one direction, which is less and less boondocking areas available, more and more rules about where you can go and how long you can stay, not to mention free boondocking areas turning into pay-to-stay areas faster than I can keep up with them. And I don't recall ever seeing a pay-to-stay place becoming free.
So all in all, my full-time, boondocking lifestyle is changing, but that's just the way life is; everything is always changing, and we old geezers usually don't like those changes. Still, there's nothing we can do about it except deal with it as best we can until it's time to exit stage left.
