One more day to go. ~ 2 comments.

It's hard to believe that I've only got one full day left before my New Mexico Park pass expires and my long association with the New Mexico state parks will come to a bitter end. But that fact doesn't bother me as much as it used to, and that's probably because I've gotten used to it and have thought of other things I can do.

Walking around this morning, looking at the camping areas, it still doesn't look busy at all. Because of the way the campsites are laid out at the City of Rocks, which is helter-skelter, based on the environment is hard to get an idea of how busy the park is. But I do know I still see lots of empty campsites in the park. The hookup campsites are full and have been so since I got here, and my recollection is from years of coming here that the hookup sites are almost always full.

I'm not exactly sure where I'm going to go when I leave the City of Rocks, all I know for sure is I have to hit the road Monday morning since Sunday is the last night that I'm legal. I know I'm going to end up in Tombstone, Arizona, in the next day or so, since I can boondock within walking distance of downtown Tombstone, and it’s one of my favorite places to be. It costs $10 a night to stay at the boondocking RV Park in Tombstone, but I consider that a fair price to pay since it’s so convenient to downtown.

I've been here almost 2 weeks, so I'm looking forward to being back on the road again, and also looking forward to being back in a warmer area, and it’s warmer because it's lower in elevation, and there are Saguaro cacti in the area, and Saguaro's are a sure sign of warmth. Because they don't like the cold any more than I do.

I finally got a decent sunset the other day, so I walked around taking some pictures.

The City of Rocks Visitor Center on the left offers travelers information about the unique geological formations and rich history of the area. Located near the iconic City of Rocks, the center provides maps and exhibits. Whether you’re interested in hiking or rock climbing, the visitor center is a good starting point

The main road goes all the way around the boulder field; if I remember correctly, it’s about 1 mile around the whole place.

A camper van snuggled in amongst the rocks. Camper vans are getting to be the camper I see the most. But since I boondock most of the time, I would expect to see a lot more camper vans in places I go, rather than class A motorhomes.
