Heading for Elephant Butte State Park tomorrow
I'll head to Elephant Butte State Park tomorrow morning if everything works out. I find that rather exciting because with all the new rules in place for New Mexico State Parks, I don't know what I'll face trying to learn a whole new system. On the other hand, I can't afford to use this new system beyond next November, so there's not much point in learning about it. But before I set off, I must understand enough of the new State Park rules to ensure I don't accidentally camp in a no-go zone.
It will be nice to be close to a Walmart again since Walmart will be only four or five miles from where I'll be boondocked at Elephant Butte State Park. It makes me wonder where folks would be if there were no Walmart, because not only do we get cheaper prices at Walmart, but the fact that there IS a Walmart makes other stores at least try to make their prices more competitive. When I envision America without a Walmart, I think it would probably be very similar to the small towns I go to in the West, where I'm absolutely shocked at the prices of groceries, some of which are double what Walmart charges.

My picnic table is on the left, the camper is on the right, and a steep, rocky path is in between.
