Nothing but good news

I went for my one-week cataract surgery checkup yesterday, and the doctor said I was healing up well, and everything in my eye looked normal, including my vision. I was glad to hear that, and I was also glad to hear that I'll be seeing the same surgeon who performed my first eye surgery. When dealing with the VA, you never know which doctor you'll end up with, so having the doctor who did a good job on the first eye makes me feel a lot better about how my second eye will turn out.

I also get to taper down my eyedrops from four times a day to three times a day, for one week, then two times a day for a week, and finally one drop a day for a week. All that sounds okay, but by Tuesday, I'll be putting a bunch of eye drops in my other eye. The eye drops haven't been a terrible thing, I would say more annoying than anything else, but being able to see clearly is well worth it.

My doctor tells me that I should be completely done with all the cataract procedures by the first week of November, including all the restrictions and even the eyedrops, and I couldn't be happier about that. I normally leave for my winter travels in late October or early November, so the timing works out just right. I'll be able to enjoy the Arizona desert this winter without worrying about passing my eye exam for my driver’s license renewal in September 2026.

A thick blanket of clouds hangs over Pete’s, but even though this cloud looks like the last sight Noah saw before it started raining, as usual, for around here, very little rain actually hit the ground.
