A last-minute change of plans. ~ 2 comments

I woke up this morning thinking it was time to put on my traveling shoes and head to Phoenix for the "End of Trail" cowboy shoot, which starts on February 22, and stake out a comfortable spot to boondock on some Arizona trust lands near the Ben Avery gun range. But when I poked my nose out the door this morning, I found it to be cold, rainy, and windy, the perfect trifecta for keeping me indoors. So I quickly pivoted from a morning of travel to a day of relaxation, and thanked my lucky stars that I have the ability to come and go as I please, and all the while looking forward to an improved weather situation tomorrow.

I always enjoy the "End of Trail" contest, and since everybody's in costume, there are numerous picture-taking opportunities. Yes, there is a whole lot of walking involved, but at least they have pickup trucks pulling passenger trailers to take folks from the parking lot to the shooting areas.

There's always a big crowd there, and it takes me a while to get used to being around people, but I don't mind; it's just more things to take pictures of.

Last night's sunset. Had I been paying attention, the clouds would have foretold the weather I would be facing today.

This is the way it looked all day today. Low-hanging clouds, muddy roads, and a chill wind that reminded me it's winter in other parts of the country.

The clouds got thicker, and the land got darker as the rains continued off and on all day.
