Response to Larry’s comment.
I agree, a one-track mind is not all bad, Larry, but when someone also happens to be a procrastinator, you end up with someone like me who really wants to get something done but doesn't feel like starting on it till tomorrow. So maybe the one-track mind is not a problem; it's that procrastination thing that makes everything difficult.
I know the feeling of success I get when I finish a project, so you would think that I would want that feeling to happen as soon as possible, but no! I put it off as long as possible until whatever I needed to do became a big problem that has to be done or else.
In a way, I'm looking forward to my cataract surgery, which will enable me to see clearly again. However, on the other hand, I have several concerns. After all, it's being done by the VA, and the VA is not exactly known for its expertise or for hiring only the best people for the job. And when it comes to my eyes, I'm just a wee bit persnickety. After all, traveling and taking snapshots of random things are what I live for, and both those things are highly dependent on my ability to see.
I know that a cataract operation is one of the most common procedures done in this country, and is usually very successful. Still, I can't get over the memory that 20 years ago, the VA was known as where veterans went to die.
Fall will be upon us all soon, but right now, it is obvious to me, as evidenced by the need to wear a jacket in the mornings, the addition of a second blanket on my bed, and the hint of yellow and red in some of the neighborhood trees. As I always say, Fall is my favorite time of year, and one of the benefits of my winter travels is that by heading south and lower in elevation, I get to experience the Fall temperatures and the changing leaves almost until December.

The view I see when I close my eyes, and I’m not at Pete’s.
Sunset at Pete’s. Being at Pete’s is not just about the view; it’s about the peace and quiet, the whisper of the wind in the pine trees, and the solitude of being surrounded by nature.
A flower in the yard with flowers inside it.
