Will the Bosque del Apache be a disappointment?
The weather is expected to be nice for the next few days, with daytime highs in the high 60s and nighttime lows in the mid-40s. I can think of a lot worse places to be.
I've been taking a walk every day, and, as I mentioned earlier, I don’t just go for a walk for the exercise. I'd rather go for a walk to take pictures, and if it's good exercise at the same time, so be it.
When I leave here, which I'm not sure will be anytime soon, but it will be sometime this week, I plan to stop at the Bosque del Apache and take a few pictures of the birds. Last year, I was somewhat disappointed by the lack of Sandhill cranes at the Bosque. Instead of thousands, there were only hundreds. It was basically the same at Whitewater Draw in Arizona. There were hundreds instead of thousands.
Reading about this problem on the internet, it was stated that there are fewer cranes in the Bosque area. Or Whitewater Draw. They're just spreading out to some different places. So they're not all compacted together in one or two places, so I guess that will make taking pictures of the birds more difficult, but I'll still go there and give it a try to see how it looks this year.
I called a VA clinic near Santa Fe, New Mexico, to see if they could obtain a pair of glasses made according to the prescription provided by the Denver VA. Apparently, I will need to make an appointment with the VA, and scheduling an appointment will take weeks. I'm not sure why I was surprised to hear that, since everything the VA does takes weeks or months. So it looks like the smart thing to do would be to locate a civilian optometrist who can make the Glasses for me. That shouldn't be a problem, and it shouldn't cost too much. Since I already have the prescription, I won't need an eye exam, and I have my old glasses frames to put the new lenses in. So I need to start checking on that.

A couple of geese on a beautiful fall morning paddling across the still waters of Storrie Lake.
I spotted this wading bird just as the sun was coming up, and the bird was so far away that I couldn't tell exactly what it was, but it appears to be either a seagull, a long-necked woodpecker. Or the world's biggest hummingbird.
