Chatfield Reservoir State Park

The weather is shaping up okay for the holidays. Saturday and Sunday will be about 80° and mostly sunny, but on Monday, there are supposed to be some rain showers in the afternoon. But I imagine most folks will be packed up and on the way home by then.

There's a big State Park about 3 miles from where I stay, Chatfield Reservoir State Park, and its claim to fame is a very large reservoir suitable for boating, waterskiing, fishing, paddleboarding, and just about anything you would want to do on the water. So a lot of the folks in the neighborhood have boats and RVs parked in their yard.

I've always wanted to see what the park looks like on a holiday because it gets pretty crowded on a normal weekend, but I've never had the desire to wait in line that long to get in the gate or deal with the lack of parking. And I know the campgrounds are full, since they have to be reserved well in advance on normal summer days, let alone a holiday. And there's a sign at the park exit that says something to the effect of, if you leave, you might not be allowed back in again because of the crowds.

This old building is in the railroad part of Holbrook, Arizona. It looks like a warehouse of some kind, but it shows that the railroads made a lot of money, so they were able to build their buildings out of expensive materials like bricks or stone, which lasted a long time.
