I bought a new inverter.

As usual, Sunday was a day of relaxing and doing nothing important. Now you may ask, if that's the case, how can I tell Sunday from any other day? And of course, the answer is, on Sunday, I feel no guilt.

The other day, I had to replace my camper's inverter. I have a habit of buying inexpensive inverters, figuring they won't last long, but since they don't cost much, it's better to just replace them every once in a while. The one that just quit, I bought at Harbor Freight, which should tell you right off the bat that its life expectancy would be fairly brief. And indeed it lasted about two years. I don't normally buy electronic gadgets at Harbor Freight, but I was on the road and had no choice, since I was parked across the street from one when my previous inverter croaked.

Since I'm camped in my family's driveway and have Amazon same-day deliveries, I decided to look into the inverter situation, since Amazon gives me access to just about every inverter known to man, and hopefully find a better one than the ones I've been using.

An afternoon of Internet deep diving gave me the answer I was looking for. The first thing that became apparent was that getting a really good 2,000- or 3,000-watt inverter costs around a thousand bucks, and I knew that before I even cranked up the computer. But what I learned was that a company that came highly recommended by people I trust on the Internet was Giandel.... Which is made in China, but then what isn't? A 2200-watt inverter cost me about $250, which is no more than the Harbor Freight and Renogy inverters I had before. So hopefully this will last me a lifetime.... How hard could that be? I'll be 80 in September.
