Back in Denver.

Back in Denver, and back with the family, where I'm helping with the grandkids since they're home and mom and dad are at work.

Now that I've got an old Bear recurve bow with me, I've started getting it ready to shoot by ordering a bowstring from Amazon, which should arrive on Sunday. I don't want to buy arrows, shooting glove, an arm guard, and some kind of foam target for it just yet, because I don't know if the bow actually works or not.

The bow is about 60 years old, and I don't know how long it's been since the bow was last drawn. But I've had it for about 30 years, and I've never strung it up and pulled it back, so for all I know, the thing could fly into pieces the first time I draw it. So what I need to do is pull it back a little at a time over the next few days to get it limbered up before I pull it to full draw. Imagine how your legs would feel if you had been sitting in a chair without moving for 30 years and suddenly decided to jump up!

Incrementally pulling the bow back will also help get what few muscles I have left used to draw a bow again. It's only a 50-pound pull, but I haven't drawn a bow since I sold my PSE compound bow when I was getting rid of everything in my house so I could sell it and become a fulltimer.

Early morning at Pete's. The sun is up, but it hasn’t gotten over the mountains yet. This isn’t ideal when you're waiting for the sun to heat up the camper.

My solar panels in the yard, held down by the plentiful rocks at Pete’s. and they needed a lot of holding down because the winds were horrendous.
