852 different sexes ?
Unable to think of anything to write about in my blog, I decided to throw caution to the wind and write about something political that some folks apparently find controversial. I try to avoid political subjects, but it was either this or no blog today, so I chose this.
The state of Colorado sends out a booklet explaining some of the things we will be voting on in November so you can read both sides of an argument and make up your mind before you get into the voting booth. And I chose these three things that we will be voting on as an example of what Colorado has become. And the three things are......
Increasing the penalty for the human trafficking of minors.
Should males be allowed to play in female sports?
And should gender transition surgery on minors continue to be legal?
Sometimes, when looking at subjects like this, I find it revealing to turn the question around and pose it as a statement opposite to what I believe, such as....
I believe that punishment for kidnapping children should continue to be a slap on the wrist, and writing 100 times I promise not to do that again.
Of course, males and females should compete against each other in school sports; that should toughen these girls up and prepare them to become the empowered women that they aspire to be, and there's nothing that will toughen you up quicker than being a 5-foot-tall, 110-pound female quarterback facing a charging 250-pound male linebacker that is intent on sending the quarterback home in a bucket.
Since there are now 852 different sexes, I can't think of any good reason you shouldn't be able to choose which one you want to be that day. And if you're 10 or 11 years old, That's plenty old enough to decide which one you want to be permanently.
This is getting kind of long, and I think I have something else to say, and if I can remember what it was, I'll write about it tomorrow.
