I’m in charge.

My family took a one-week mini-vacation to North Carolina, leaving me in charge of the house. It's a big responsibility, but I'm up to the challenge.

With the grandkids gone, my babysitting responsibilities have disappeared, leaving me more time to relax, get the camper ready for travel, and handle any last-minute appointments, including my hearing appointment on the 14th.

With my one-track mind, if I have a bunch of important things to do during the month, I can only think about those things, and getting ready to travel isn't something I'm concerned about. But in October, my one-track mind turns to heading south and getting the camper and truck ready to travel, and that's where my mind is right now. With Fall closing in, temperatures dropping, and more RVs heading south on I-25, I start to hear the call of the open road, and it becomes harder and harder to ignore.

The high country. That’s where all the snow is; it's only about 25 miles from Pete's, but it feels like a whole different world... And actually, it is.

It’s more rugged. It's colder, and hardly anything grows up there.
