Do giant pythons really eat alligators? ~ 4 comments.

About 9 o'clock this morning, I took my last sip of coffee, packed up my dog and pony show, and headed back to my previous trust land boondocking area.

I couldn't help but notice as I drove through town that the price of diesel at the gas station I normally go to had reached $6.10 a gallon. Normally, I would try to find something humorous to say about that, but being on a limited budget and a long way from my summer home and my family, the exorbitant price of diesel fuel doesn't seem as humorous as it used to.

When I got to the Arizona trust lands, where I normally stay, I shot right on past my normal boondocking spot and drove up the hill to where I had been camping a week or so ago and found 8 or 10 head of cattle lounging in the shade. Not wanting to disturb them, or the range bull that protects them, I moseyed on down the road 100 yards or so and found a new and different spot to boondock.

My respect for rattlesnakes has caused me to make boondocking decisions based on the remote possibility of running into one while walking in the desert or through the hills. Bear in mind, I have not seen a rattlesnake, nor any signs of one, but the heat does indicate they would be out running around, so I feel I should be a lot more careful than I normally would wandering around in the desert, and this new spot I've chosen has more Jeep trails and dry washes where I can walk without fear of stepping on a sneaky snake hidden in the bushes.

Like I've mentioned before, snakes don't bother me in the least, having had several pet snakes, and living in South Florida, where fearsome snakes such as coral snakes, water moccasins, and giant pythons that eat alligators are a way of life.

My new boondocking spot. Plenty of peace and quiet, beautiful scenery, and despite the way it looks, I'm only four or five miles from downtown.

It wouldn't be Arizona without a few Saguaros.

Plenty of jeep trails in the area that I can walk on.

Boondocking heaven.
