No pictures today

The clouds were thick today, as they were yesterday and the day before, preventing my solar panels from charging the batteries effectively. Tomorrow looks about the same, and unfortunately, so does the remainder of the week. I don't know how many cloudy. days I can go without much charging. Since I don't think I've ever had to go past two days with thick clouds in this Lance camper. However, my batteries are so low that I'm afraid to turn on my big laptop, so I won't be able to work on any pic. The Arctic Fox once had to go six days without charging. One time, while I was in Texas, the clouds were thick enough that I barely got any charging at all. But I had a much more powerful system in the Arctic Fox than I do now.

Notice I haven't mentioned much about getting enough charging in the summer for my solar panels. And that's simply because the sun is straight up in the sky. At noon, which means I'm getting the highest amount of charging I can get. There's no shadows on the solar panels cast by all the things on the Lances roof. Basically I stay charged up all day long, no matter how much I use my big computer.

I would like to get that way In the winter. but I don't know if it's possible in the Lance, even with some panels on the ground. Sometimes I wonder if I should look into a generator to provide electricity in the winter. But to me, it's just one more thing to have to worry about, deal with, and put away when I'm not using it. More expense, more weight to carry. And one more mechanical thing that can go wrong.

The VFW Boondocking area. is not crowded at all. And I'm assuming most folks are With their families for the holidays. And some are already in Quartzite to get a good space near the Big Show. . the Big Show starts January 17th and ends one week later.
