I’m pre-hunkered

It seems that on some days, I have something to say, but no pictures, and on other days, I have plenty of pictures but nothing to say. Today happens to be the latter.

With the holiday rush starting tomorrow, I certainly have no desire to go anyplace, so I pre-hunkered down today in an effort to avoid any stray pre-holiday travelers that, for some reason, enjoy dealing with the long lines of traffic heading for the mountains. And since Labor Day is a holiday that mostly appeals to the Denver locals, I would surmise that every possible camping spot would be spoken for already, as the Denver folks rush West on Highway 285, Highway 24 and I-70 with coolers full of beer and hot dogs in an attempt to enjoy the outdoor activities at overflowing campgrounds and lakes packed with motorboats, kayaks, and paddle boards all competing for a few square feet of somewhat pristine water.

So the closest I will get to holiday camping is hoping for some cell phone pictures of the grandkids playing in the sand at the Sand Dunes National Park near Alamosa, Colorado, this weekend. That will give me a tiny taste of celebrating the Labor Day holiday, and since I no longer partake in any form of labor, that will be all I need.
